HSLDA President and co-founder Mike Smith is our guest in this episode. We got to chat with Mike about his sports career in school, his pursuit of elite country club status as a young professional, and how a developing faith caused him to leave all that behind and co-found a nonprofit legal group to defend the newly energized homeschool movement from government harassment and overreach in the 1980s. That nonprofit was HSLDA and Mike has served as president since 2001. Mike's stories, jokes, and insights are stellar. Don't miss this episode!

Love this show!! Always feels like I’m in the room for the conversation. Though sometimes it feels like the host literally gets inside my head— he’ll ask the exact same question that’s on my mind at the moment. Which I guess is pretty cool. The guests are good too cause they have answers instead of just questions.
GenJ is Great!
Some people shy away from talking about politics and faith. Others dive in and treat them simplistically.
I appreciate the GenJ way of wrestling with big ideas and doing it with kindness.
