Changes to Employment Law: Small Business Unfair Dismissal Code

Changes to Employment Law: Small Business Unfair Dismissal Code

Welcome back to our first Podcast for 2022!
In this episode Cameron is joined by our employment law guru Amelia Hatton who takes us through the requirements of the Small Business Unfair Dismissal Code and how you can ensure your business complies.
The Small Business Unfair Dismissal Code is a set of rules established by the Fair Work Commission for the termination of employees in small businesses – that is, a business of 15 employees or less. Most importantly, if the dismissed employee commences unfair dismissal proceedings which go to a hearing, a Small Business Employer will need to provide evidence that it followed the Code.

Letters of Administration 101 - Many Reasons Why You Should Have a Will

Letters of Administration 101 - Many Reasons Why You Should Have a Will

Welcome back to another episode. Todays topic we discuss the process of "Letters of Administration" and how your assets are dealt with after you pass away without a Will.
When a person dies without a valid Will (which can occur more often than you may think) a person will need to apply for Letters of Administration to the Supreme Court of NSW. The Letters of Administration process allows the person to deal with assets and administer the estate according to the law in NSW.
Who is entitled to your assets? Is the Government entitled to the estate because there is no Will? who manages the estate after you pass?
These are just some of the things Cameron and Laura discuss in this episode.

The two guarantees in life are death and taxes

Welcome back to another episode. We are hope you are all staying safe and well.
In this episode we a joined again by special guest David Rosenthal from Judge Accountants, Penrith. Cameron and David discuss what the tax implications are in relation to deceased estates in NSW. Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccines for me, says SPC

Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccines for me, says SPC

Welcome back to another episode, and a controversial one.
On the 5 August 2021, well-known Australian fruit and vegetable processing company SPC has announced that it will mandate the COVID-19 vaccination for all staff.
The announcement is not without controversy with many commentators are suggesting that this could become Australia’s legal test case which could flesh out what is and isn’t “reasonable” with respect to an employer’s direction to an employee for a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination and may set a new standard for Australia moving forward, including for other vaccinations.
Amelia and Cameron dive into the legalities behind the decision and what that could mean for employers and employees.
