Grief is at the heart of this rural romance, which sees independent farrier Jemima quite fine with how her life has turned out—until a new man enters her life. This isn’t a wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am love story, but a slow burn across months that pulls both Jemima and animal geneticist and vet Finn toward an inevitable connection. The detailed country setting, grounded in real places such as Dubbo Zoo, and the obvious research that Penelope Janu has put into the leading characters’ jobs make this a grounded story that will make you want to hug your pets as well as your two-legged loved ones.

Pure entertainment.
I am slightly biased towards this author having read her other books & never been disappointed, so it goes without saying that this was another delightful read. Romance, but not over the top by any stretch, picturesque descriptive prose that the reader can actually visualise & horses. A blend of all with realistic interesting characters makes this a book worthy of recommendation.
