About Andrew Bird

In the late ’90s, Andrew Bird played violin on three albums by Squirrel Nut Zippers, including their Platinum-selling Hot. ∙ Following the breakup of his band Bowl of Fire, Bird reinvented himself as a solo artist with his acclaimed 2005 album, The Mysterious Production of Eggs. ∙ Bird’s breakthrough LP, Armchair Apocrypha, sold more than 100,000 copies and earned him his first late-night TV appearances. ∙ He scored the first season of the TV series Baskets at the request of its star, Zach Galifianakis. ∙ Struck by Bird’s stage presence, Fargo creator Noah Hawley cast him as a funeral director in the TV series’ fourth season. ∙ In 2019, he earned his first Grammy nomination—for the folk album My Finest Work Yet.
