Pop group ASTRO always point their dramatic songs toward the stars, whether delivering them as slow-rising ballads or rocketing dance cuts. Formed out of an idol development TV show, the K-pop project debuted in 2016 with six members. They quickly won notice for their vocal dexterity on string-assisted slow jams like 2016’s “First Love” and swifter, funk-dappled cuts like 2017’s “Crazy Sexy Cool”. Whatever tempo they approach, ASTRO bring heart-racing energy to their songs, often balanced between longing and the thrill of possible connection (2019’s emphatic “All Night”). After a string of colorful albums, including 2021's All Yours and 2022's Drive to the Starry Road, the band was rocked in early 2023 by the departure of one of its members, Rocky, and the sudden death of another, Moonbin.
