About Glen Moore

One of the longtime members of Oregon, Glen Moore's playing tends to be on the introspective side with thoughtful and melodic improvisations that are open to the influence of folk, classical, and ethnic music. He started on bass when he was 13 and freelanced in New York in the mid-'60s. Moore recorded with Nick Brignola in 1967, played part-time with the Paul Bley Synthesizer Show during 1969-1971, was with Paul Winter's Consort in 1970, and then left to help form Oregon. In addition to his work with the eclectic group, Glen Moore recorded with Annette Peacock, Larry Coryell, Ralph Towner, and Zbigniew Seifert, plus some non-jazz dates. He has also led dates for Enja, Elektra, and Audioquest, and performed duets with singer Nancy King (as King & Moore); the duo has recorded for Justice. ~ Scott Yanow
