QUESTION

I used to use this app often, and it was good! It did exactly what it says it does, and my my work flow eaiser. I was happy with it.

ALTHOUGH, I recently began doing this again, and was dissapointed to be met with a error message as soon as I opened the app saying
"Unfortunately there was an error when trying to acsess the camera. Try again or acsess a differnt one."
I don't understand, when I go to the preferneces the facetime camera is already selected, which is the only camera and the same camera im useing and have always used. Any idea what could have cause this error? I liek the app, but i can't use it now :) please let me know! thankyou

Developer Response ,

Thank you for your question. If you are using Catalina, please check your security settings. Go to System Preferences / Security & Privacy / Camera - and make sure that Quick Camera has access to the camera.

Great app for taking quick snapshots from a USB camera

I'm not necessarily using this exactly the same way everyone else is, of course - we all have unique needs. What I've done is set up a "camera booth" where I can position my model train cars, and fastened a USB webcam to be able to take pictures.

Quick Camera is EXACTLY the last piece I needed. I position the train car in place, make sure it's framed properly, press Command-S, give it a name, and move on to the next car. I can literally photograph 20 cars in less than 10 minutes. HUGE efficiency boost!

I did have a couple of suggestions for improvement, which I put on the dev's GitHub page - I got a prompt reply from the dev with good information on work-arounds to try until/if the suggestions are incorporated.

I understand this is a "Free" app on the Mac App Store so it's not at a high priority to incorporate modifications, and I can appreciate that for sure. The mods I suggested would help my workflow but may not affect other users much at all, and I appreciate the dev's response.

If I were more snarky I'd say the app is worth "Twice what I paid for it" but since that was $0, I'll just say - it "Has value" to me and I'd be happy to provide a donation; I didn't see a link for it but if you have a paypal address for me to kick some coffee money to, let me know!

Quick, Minimal, Flexible

I like how this app focuses on one thing well. The other alternative I've tried is Quicktime Viewer but it is cumbersome to set up for easy webcam uses. I've been using QuickCam as a way to fake "picture-in-picture" while streaming my desktop into Discord.

There are only a few issues I have with this version (1.4.2 at the time of this writing):

1. The "Fix Aspect" option doesn't seem to do anything. I expected it to lock the window frame size to the aspect ratio of the source (I'm still on Mojave)

2. There is no way to "keep the window on top". MacOS doesn't let you pin arbitrary windows, so this is something that needs support in the app itself. I want to float my camera window on the desktop as I stream full-screen.

Other than that, this is a really great utility for my needs. Keep up the good work!
