You've Got the Whole Night to Go - EP

So what if Logic1000’s blissed-out club EP arrives in the middle of a global lockdown? Maybe it’s exactly the energy we need. Rather than mourn a year without the release of steady nightlife, the DJ/producer (born Samantha Poulter) opts instead to face forward, delivering tracks that burst with optimism and buoyancy, and that remind us of how good it feels to lose yourself in the heat of a dance floor. Poulter, who was raised in Sydney but relocated to Berlin last year, says the project’s concept was shaped by her fluctuating headspace during the pandemic. “The world was in a state of emergency and I had no idea what was about to happen,” she tells Apple Music. “I felt confused and afraid. There were days when I couldn't get out of bed or off the couch. But on the days when I was feeling productive, music gave me purpose. I don’t think I would have survived lockdown without it.” You’ve Got the Whole Night to Go is a love letter to those marathon nights out when morning seems permanently out of sight. “It’s like a journey through the night when it feels like there’s always more to come,” she says. Through four wide-ranging tracks, Poulter captures the heat-of-the-moment euphoria that accompanies a typical nightclub voyage: There’s a bouncy, Miami-bass-inspired pre-party moment (“Medium”), a sultry and emotive hands-in-the-air house tune (“I Won’t Forget”), and a tunneling dose of peak-time techno that feels like getting beamed up by strobe lights (“Her”). “I wanted these tracks to instill a sense of hope,” she says. “There’s a sense of movement.”
