Great story about love & family
I love every thing Claudia Connor writes! While Worth the Fall continues to be my favorite, I loved this book, too. When I bought this book, I thought it was part of her series & once I got over my confusion (duh) I really fell into the story. The story set up of a fling that goes awry, the lead male being in the sticky situation for the second time making the lead female question his morality was unique to me. So all was not a smooth ride..but great HEA!
3.5 Stars
I struggled with whether to round this one up or down, because it really felt inbetween to me. So, the good - the kids were cute. Deacon was a great dad. I (mostly) liked the characters individually. The book was easy to read and the story flowed well.
What I didn’t love - the heroine’s lack of self esteem and confidence, the “horrible ex” trope in the twins Mom who didn’t want them and was never their mom versus the H who is basically a saint, the multiple miscommunications. And a few other things I won’t mention for spoiler reasons.
Overall, good but not great and I’ve liked other books by this author better. But there were parts, especially in the beginning and end, that I liked a lot.
Loved this story!
Dr. Montgomery completely had my ovaries exploding!!! When Deacon meets Clare at a resort on her "honeymoon" he never intends to fall for her. Clare was left at the alter and meeting a man on her "honeymoon" wasn't in the cards.
This story had me swooning through the whole. From the very beginning I fell in love with Deacon Montgomery. The man that he is and that single father that he is. I loved his dedication to Clare and really wanting to give what they have a shot.
The story is well told and the characters are well developed. There were quite a few times I got butterflies when Deacon would talk to Clare. These two had me falling head over heels for their story. I absolutely loved it!
