Timaya Essentials

For over 15 years, Enitimi Alfred Odom, aka Timaya, has helped steer the direction of Naija pop. With his Afro-dancehall style, he embodies the rags-to-riches journey and gleefully folds his experiences into Afrobeats and tropical sounds. The dancehall of “Bam Bam” sits alongside the Afrobeats of “The Mood,” while the Port Harcourt native weaves social commentary into “Dem Mama” and motivational lyrics into “Don Dada.” At the heart of Timaya’s art is a dedication to telling his story against a backdrop of West African rhythms, vibrant percussion, smooth melodies, and staccato vocals.
