Remixlive - Make Music & Beats 4+

I tried Remixlive back in 2017 when it was all about looping. I kept it as an experimenter, but not a daily driver, since I preferred to make original music instead of using loops.

But 6 years later I come back and it’s a whole different app. Not only is looping an option, but now you can also create original melodies, drum patterns, basslines, and chord sequences! It’s amazing! Now I use this app more frequently because I can now create something unique and original with it, and it’s been awesome to see your app grow. Remixlive is definitely much more of an option now, and your MacOS version has been converted perfectly as well.

That being said, there could be a bit of a better way to change the pitch of melodic instruments’ notes; The current system is quite finicky. It’s usable, and it’s good, but could use some improvements. Maybe you should add individual grid lines for each semitone you transpose it, or use a slider on the left-hand menu or something like that. Also, it would be very convenient if you could record vocals inside Remixlive. Those two issues are the only turnoffs from this app; otherwise, this app is pretty high up on my list of iPad music making apps! (Definitely higher than Music Maker Go…)

I challenge the developers to record themselves making a song using the separate features of the app, all in one take, and prove it actually works. I've used this thing on and off for the last year, and I have never once found consistency in how it works and operates. I am far from convinced that a person can even complete a song using this app. You hit record on one screen it records tracks on the main song; you try to record a loop or sequence into the song but then it doesn't record anything into the main song. Trying to load up packs and it creates a whole new project without even telling you, and you only realize it when you go back to the Home Screen. I mean it's absolutely convoluted and glitchy and it makes me insane , I'm pulling my hair out. I just can't figure it out. Maybe you need to be a musical genius or somewhere in the inside of the business or something. This is an unbelievably frustrating experience and I resent the developers for how they've constructed this thing. Also, their customer service responded a couple of times then I guess gave up on answering my questions. The app simply does not work.

…while I think this is the best music app, you can’t do a lot of things with it that you should. They updated the app a year or so ago and took away the option to stack a channel. I used to glitch out some sick beats. No more. And they give you packs with some of the best sounds but only on loops, not the drum pad. So you can’t make your own music with them. You can’t export sequences either. So all those many hours on here, the sounds I created, the hard work, cannot be exported and saved to your computer. It’s stuck on there unless you record it and export it. Ugh. Some other stuff too regarding importing and exporting sounds, I was so on in my first review. What a shame it got deleted for some reason. Not like they responded anyway. And why can’t we purchase a permanent use? One more year at full price and they would have got me to spend more on this than some of the most expensive DAWs in existence. And speaking of, where’s the holiday subscription offer? I click on the notification and it shows it but no option to select it. What is that? I mean I want to give five stars. It helped me get into music. Lots of hours on there. It helps me like therapy. But as a customer and a producer I can’t help but feel like they don’t take us seriously. Which is sad. They got gold here. They just keep tripping over themselves.
