About Slayter
Born in Puerto Rico, Nuyorican rapper Slayter was raised by his teenage single mother in Northern Manhattan's Dyckman St., and spent most of his formative years going back and forth between the two places. Around 2017 he began uploading tracks to SoundCloud, eventually catching the attention of Jonny Shipes, CEO of the independent hip-hop label Cinematic Music Group. Starting with the EP Cold at Night (2019), Slayter slowly grew into a sort of Dyckman icon with his sinister soundscapes and gritty tales of lives on the block. Over the next five years he went on to release more than 50 singles and collaborations. His profile saw a steep rise after 2023, when he finally managed to reach beyond the local scene by rapping more frequently in Spanish and collaborating assiduously with urbano artists.
