LinkedIn is the best professional app
I have been a member of LinkedIn for about a year and I have to say truthfully it is the best professional career app I have ever used. It is even better and easier to use than a lot of employment websites I have used. It is simple to use but has lots of layers to it to help you find your destined career. Had it not been for LinkedIn I would not have realised my full potential and for that alone I am sincerely grateful for the LinkedIn app and the developers for creating such a great app for professional job seekers, even if you are just looking for a full time job it is an essential tool, two thumbs up plus a head nod from me. Thank you LinkedIn for being everything I need in an app.
Lack of compatibility with older iOS
Disappointed that the decision has been made to effectively brick the app on anything earlier than iOS13. My iPad doesn’t update higher than 12.x but is perfectly functional. I can see the latest timeline has loaded in the background. I also understand the push to stop supporting old tech, I work in the industry and have done for 20+ years. I live the pain of legacy versions every day. However, you could take the route of retaining access via the app with the warning that as you develop some features will either stop working or be unstable. Most users would accept this, it’s not a life critical app, it’s effectively social media. The experience on your mobile app through the browser is less intuitive, less friendly and actually just painful. Perhaps you could improve that UX instead if you’re pushing people down that route. You should do that before removing access to the good UX.
In an age of focus on sustainability and discouraging throw away culture it is perhaps time to reappraise abandoning users because they are not on the latest kit. Those people may be on older kit for the right reasons. If it isn’t broken why would I consign it to the bin?
Stop emailing me please
Turned off all notifications in app, which isn’t a simple toggle you have to go through a load of sections to turn everything off yet I’m still getting emails. Also tried the unsubscribe link and that doesn’t work. I also don’t like how I have to unsubscribe for each email type. Why isn’t there an unsubscribe for all option. Bombarding me with emails is really making me dislike this app to the point of me wanting to close my account. But that then means I loose connection with a bunch of people I’ve worked with as linked-in has a monopoly on work based social media. I’m a very light user, surely there is enough recruitment agencies and serial career climbers to cover the costs and to just leave me alone. Pretty sure if I emailed someone has much as linked emails me I would have a restraining order point on me. Yes I could just mark it all as spam or setup a rule to move it to a folder. I don’t want a folder full of pointless emails, and I don’t particularly want them filling up my spam folder either. #firstworldproblems But when you get emails everyday that you don’t want it gets very annoying.
