Wonderful
PLAYING HIS PART is a wonderfully engaging story filled with heartbreak and joy. The story and characters drew me in from the first page.
This story centers on Ben and Natalie. It all starts when Ben, a minor league hockey player, marries Natalie in a quickie Las Vegas wedding. Ben is gruff and keeps everyone at a distance. Natalie is cautious after being hurt a few times and she doesn’t realize she is in the perfect place to heal. Everyone around her is there to help her. Natalie and Ben are two sad souls who need each other but don’t realize it until they spend time together. At times, Ben and Natalie broke my heart. I wanted them to be happy and work through all their issues. Ben and Natalie are great together. They have issues and baggage but when they were together, they make each other strong and confident.

What starts off as a spur of the moment fake marriage for very different reasons, turns into an amazingly heartwarming, tender and sweet love story. But it takes a long time to get there. These two have pasts that are messing them up and definite communication issues. Ben seems to be his own worst enemy most of the time. This is not your typical romance, that's for sure, and nothing is perfect, but it feels real. Sure Ben and Natalie have chemistry, but they don't really know how to use it at first. But when they do, they heat up the sheets like nobody's business! Things are very complicated and murky between them but as they finally open up and get to know each other more and more, they also learn how to help/heal each other and their future brightens right up.
