Beck

A young woman, Denise, 18 years old, is found dead; strangled in a hotel room in central Stockholm. The room has been paid for with a credit card belonging to Peter Ahre from the well-to-do suburb of Djursholm. But when Gunvald and Oskar show up to bring Ahre in for questioning, he explains that he was robbed the night before, and lost both his car and his wallet, which he reported to the police.

Gangster kingpin Zlatko Lozanovic is shot and killed in his home by a sniper. He dies in front of his wife, children, and father-in-law. The Beck team draws up a list of all of Zlatko’s enemies, which turns out to include most of Stockholm’s underworld.

Two dead men are found buried outside Stockholm. They remain unidentified for a long time, but soon the Beck team finds reason to believe that the two could be the victims of an internal conflict within an Islamic terrorist group when another man is found murdered in an abandoned car. This man, Ibrahim, appears to have links to a terrorist group.

Oncologist Johan Fors is accused of killing a terminally ill patient by her mourning son. Martin Beck takes on the case along with Gunvald and the rest of the team. The team approach the case with lukewarm enthusiasm as the woman was 80 years old and chronically ill, and the son is a mother-bonded paranoiac.

An investigative journalist is found murdered in his home, along with the fingerprints of a notorious criminal debt collector. The journalist had been threatened by right-wing extremists, but it is the victim's work with a book about 'society's dark side' that captures the interest of Beck and his team. The case takes an unexpected and terrible turn, and suddenly there is much more at stake than finding the journalist's killer.

An unidentified body is found in the remains of a trailer after a fire at a run-down caravan park. The young female owner of the trailer is missing, but is she the victim? The case is difficult to solve when everyone involved is guarding secrets.
