Composer Ismail Darbar lends his timeless style to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s third feature, with lyrics by Nusrat Badr. Shreya Ghoshal’s vocals shine on the elegant “Silsila Ye Chahat Ka”, while Madhuri Dixit delivers a standout performance in the vivid courtesan dance “Maar Dala”, underscored by harmonium and a rich female chorus. The Pandit Birju Maharaj-penned piece “Kaahe Chhed” adds another dash of magic with vocals by Madhuri Dixit and Kavita Krishnamurthy, but it’s the dance duel in the Bengali-themed “Dola Re Dola” that makes the soundtrack for this elegant period romance unforgettable.
