The World Is Yours

The World Is Yours

The cover of Slim Thug’s The World Is Yours shows the rapper as a modern-day Tony Montana. While Thug’s rise to power has been far less dramatic, he’s garnered plenty of reverence over the course of a decade-plus career. Hearing Paul Wall’s voice next to Thug’s on “RIP Parking Lot” is a warm gust of nostalgia, but Thug yields plenty air time to Houston upstarts Cam Wallace and the ever-energetic Sauce Walka. “Mercedes,” a love song that interpolates Mr. Vegas’ dancehall classic “Sucky Ducky,” pays off as a risk, but the contemplative “What’s Next” is a perfect closer for the rapper who has everything.
