#75: The Man Who Broke The Bat: An Interview with Chuck Dixon

Your Dark Knight Archivist is back from her summer hiatus with new episodes! Londyn talks with prolific writer Chuck Dixon! Dixon has contributed so much to the Batman mythos, starting with Tim Drake's solo publication "Robin" to his run on Detective Comics introducing the character Stephanie Brown! Dixon also gives amazing insight into the creation of The Man Who Broke the Bat - Bane (my favorite!!) - and the crafting of the epic saga "Batman: Knightfall". Chuck Dixon helped make the modern Batman family foundation what it is today in current comics and other visual media.

Show was amazing

The first handful of episodes of this show are awesome! When they switch hosts to Mason, the show takes a sharp downturn. It basically turns into “explain how Batman works hour” as Mason has very little concept of Batman past or present. That would not be terrible if he wasn’t constantly interrupting and distracting from the main topic at hand. I feel like every episode since he has taken over is now me waiting for Londyn to explain to Mason some small aspect that he has no concept of just to try to get back to the main topic but rarely making it.

Mediocre at best.

I continue to listen because of my love of Batman, but lately its becoming more and more difficult to make it through an entire episode. I dont have as big of a problem with Londyn as some reviewers, my issue id with the male cohost, Mason Booker. He should go back to just producing. The interviews tend to devolve into arguing about who is a better love interest for Batman, when in reality, who cares? I think my time has come to leave this cast for greener pastures. Good luck.
