Growing up the central Mexican city of Guanajuato, Ángel Quezada first dipped his toes into hip-hop waters when he was just 12 years old. Soon taking on the moniker Santa Fe Klan, he has been fiercely dedicated to his art ever since, even getting the tracklist to his 2019 album Bendecido tattooed on his chest. He has a right to self-aggrandise, though. A hardcore work ethic and natural talent have led to tracks that bend and twist around trap, R&B and traditional Spanish music—whether he’s weaving intricate tales of hood life, heartbreak or Mexican pride.
