AR RISING
Redecorate Your Home With AR
Houzz - Home Design & Remodel
Remodeling Ideas & Local Pros
Do you dream of a new couch, desk, or paint color—but find yourself hesitating because you’re not sure how it’ll look? Augmented reality (AR) can help you realize your vision.
These AR-enabled apps let you view a 3D rendering of a product in your home as though it were actually there. See exactly how a sofa will fit in your living room or whether the table lamp you’ve been eyeing will overwhelm your sideboard. No more cumbersome returns or buyer’s remorse!
IKEA Place
IKEA Place lets you view a huge selection of the Swedish brand’s sofas, dining tables, desks, outdoor furniture, bookcases, bath products, and more in AR. But this handy app can also do some designing for you: Select an area of your home you want to decorate and, with a few taps, up will pop a complete home office, dining nook, or cozy spot to relax in.
Houzz
As you browse the more than 10 million home items for sale in Houzz, keep an eye out for the AR icon in the product image. Once you’ve found the perfect coffee table, light fixture, or bathroom vanity (there’s so much to choose from), tap the View in My Room button—and feel free to fill your real-life room with covetable virtual objects. From there, add them to your cart or snap a picture for your personal Ideabook.
Primer
Hit a wall with what to do with your walls? Let Primer inspire you. The app lets you see what different paints, tiles, or wallpapers will look like, whether you’re considering a whole-room refresh or a vibrant accent wall. Primer will place a virtual swatch that you can step back and view from different angles—or expand to cover the entire surface. Record a video of your virtual space—or tap to purchase right in the app.
