Mind Mapping - MindMeister 4+

I’ve using mind mapping softwares to help with my GCSEs, and this is by far the best one I’ve found. It’s simple to use and understand and makes mind mapping - something very difficult for me - much easier. However most the software is behind a paywall - a hefty one at that, with about £6 a month - which I simply can’t afford. A lot of things that are behind that paywall are presented like they’re ready to use, and include features like more than 3 mind maps and images. I understand the company needs to make money but I find this method incredibly annoying as I’m now having to do all my work on 3 mind maps or just move onto a new one.

All in all, I would recommend it if you’re prepared to pay.

We try to price our tools as fairly and reasonably as possible for our users and in comparison with our competitors.

I’ve been using MindMeister since shortly after it was launched in 2007 - I must have approaching 1000 maps in my account. It used to be an excellent cross platform mind mapping tool that allowed seamless collaboration. BUT, and there is a big but, they introduced a “new, improved” editor. New it is, improved it is not. The ability to save personalised map designs using your own templates has been lost - there is now a generic small set from which to choose. I used to use the maps to assign tasks and due dates - this too has been lost (I think they want to push you to sign up to their MeisterTask platform) reducing the functionality for project management and planning. Also, and most infuriatingly, if you create a map in the “new improved editor” you cannot edit it within this editor on the iPad. Instead you have to use the old editor …. And the formatting goes completely to pot (lines all over the place and nodes overwritten on each other). Given the “new editor” has been in beta for about 5 years, this is inexcusable. It’s a shame. I used to recommend MM to everyone and used it within our business. We are in the process of migrating across to Mindomo which is truly a cross platform product.

I started using this software a few years ago, as I was looking for a cloud-based solution to mind mapping, that said there were other sites that were cloud-based but limited functionality based on the platform you are working from, iPhone computer laptop, ect, over the years I have developed many mind maps, and as I have grown in regards to my use so has the functionality of these maps, you can also export the maps as a image, export is a complete Word document with embedded index links already created, it can be used as a PowerPoint or a slideshow demonstration, and is also an integrated or can be integrated with a task management based on your mind maps, and the maps can be shared with someone that you are working with Whilst at the same time allowing them to be allocated tasks based on your priorities.
