A dynamic performer equally comfortable with straight-ahead jazz and the avant-garde, trombonist Robin Eubanks is probably best known as the brother of Tonight Show bandleader and guitarist Kevin Eubanks, though he has had a considerable career of his own. While Eubanks has issued a number of funk-leaning solo albums, much of his finest work has been in close collaboration with prominent musicians such as fellow trombonist Steve Turre and bassist Dave Holland. Eubanks has been performing with the latter's Dave Holland Quintet since the late 1990s, contributing to an impressive run of highly rated albums.
