Godley & Creme

Kevin Godley and Lol Creme had one of the most unique careers in the history of British pop. They cut their teeth working with beat groups in the mid-'60s, dipped their toes into psychedelic pop near the decade's end, and became masters of studio production with Hotlegs before winning international stardom as half of 10cc, and then moved on to a successful career directing music videos. The constants through their many projects were a keen, tongue-in-cheek wit, a knack for great pop melodies, impressive instrumental and studio skills, and outstanding harmonies. Godley & Creme's early psychedelic pop efforts were collected on the 2022 anthology Frabjous Days: The Secret World of Godley & Creme 1967-1969, the cream of their work with 10cc can be heard on 1997's The Very Best of 10cc, and 1985's The History Mix, Vol. 1 is an idiosyncratic summation of their career.
