With hopes of making a difference in the world, she sails to Calcutta to set up a midwifery clinic. There she will be forced to question her beliefs, her professionalism and her romantic loyalties.
On a desperate rescue mission to save the one person who needs her the most, she travels into the foothills of the Himalayas to a tea plantation outside Darjeeling. At the roof of the world, where heaven and earth collide, Isla will be asked to pay the ultimate price for her passions.
From England’s seaside town of Brighton to India’s slums of Calcutta and the breathtaking Himalayan mountains, this is a wildly exciting novel of heroism, heartache and healing, by the bestselling author of The Chocolate Tin.

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
With its high-drama, high-stakes plot, The Tea Gardens has all the hallmarks of a captivating Fiona McIntosh novel. The plot soars between the English seaside, the slums of Calcutta and tea plantations in the breathtaking Himalayan foothills. Add to the mix an intelligent, independent heroine (young doctor Isla Fenwick), a fascinating era (1930s pre-independence India) and more than one intriguing romantic possibility, and it’s clear why McIntosh is one of Australia’s most popular writers of historical romance. Every plot element had us rooting for a compelling ideal, from love and adventure to heroism and honour.

Brilliant
A must read, Fiona did her homework on this one.
Beautifully written
I already love India & it’s diversity of culture & landscape but this story made me yearn for a return visit to ride that train, see the tea plantations & watch more sunsets & sunrises over the Himalayan mountains. Dreams come true, drama unfolds, sadness is always lurking but in the end, well you will have to read this book to find out! This story just flowed till there was no more leaving the reader in that all time dilemma about how can the next book be better than this.
Brilliant would be an understatement
This story is so descriptive and put you right in the picture. I love how this author tells her stories with such passion. She makes it obvious that she's done her research of the locations and era. So well done. Fiona Macintosh never lets her readers down. I'm just sad I read it so quick and have to wait for the next exciting book.
