Jimbo is an iconic host, holds it all together and I enjoy his quick wit. However I find that the panellists are so interchangeable- dreary smartalecs with fairly uninteresting stats. The Guardian have some naff panellists, but at least you can tell who they are! Jimbo and James are great on the Euro pod but it’s lost its shine since Hornigstein left. Will happily stick it on in the car though.

If you’re choosing to listen to this show, chances are you’re British, or living in the UK. It’s a British host, with a largely British pool of experts and guests, talking about British football. So WHY is it saturated with American adverts?? I live in the UK, why would I read the New York Times? Why would I listen to podcasts about baseball or basketball? I am a long-time fan of James Richardson, Julien Laurens, Adrian Clarke and co, but if I hear that advert for Wirecutter one more time…

Jimbo is a terrific broadcaster but I gradually stopped listening to the EPL show due to the poor contributions from some of the panellists. Kept with the euro show but that’s followed a similar pattern as the best panellists have moved on.

Dull and conceited

Like all the other reviews, Jimbo absolutely makes the show. The best broadcaster (and surprised he’s not on TV much more). Obviously the panellists are variable, but it’s always brilliant when you have Michael Cox, Natalie Gedra & Duncan Alexander on there. Enjoy the Euro pod, but it’s fallen off without Honigstein and Alvaro.

Great to hear a podcast that provides excellent insights and entertains at the same time – a difficult trick to pull off – many try but only the best succeed!

James Richardson was and is a great host however he is surrounded now with mediocrity. It was a crying shame that in 2017 he departed the cult guardian podcast to join this new enterprise, especially now that since it’s become an Athletic Production, with predictable agendas peddled as appropriate. Stats / Opta heavy with the inevitable focus on the top end of the table. Partisan views from the likes of Matt Davies-Adams and Adrian Clarke who’s Chelsea and Arsenal leanings are nailed to the mast from the outset. Julien Laurens beats the drum for Mbappe and PSG, and James Horncastle fancies himself as the new James Richardson, which he ain’t. All a bit meh to be honest.

Jimbo and the team are always a quality listen👍

Let me just say before I get negative that Jimbo is a class presenter and the only thing that makes this listenable nowadays. They spend 95% of the time focusing on the big 6 case in point this past episode they dedicated 5 minutes to Newcastle 1 Arsenal 0; 4:30 was about Arsenal and the other 30 seconds about the St James park pitch slope.
