About The Alchemist

The Alchemist is a legendary hip-hop producer who’s worked with several generations of rap superstars over the course of his decades-long career. • Although he’s associated with the gritty boom-bap sound of New York City rap, The Alchemist hails from Beverly Hills. • As a teenager in the ’90s, The Alchemist rapped alongside Scott Caan—son of actor James Caan—in a duo called The Whooliganz. • The Alchemist honed his production craft under the tutelage of DJ Muggs of Cypress Hill, whom The Whooliganz toured with. • The producer began his long-running partnership with Mobb Deep in 1999 by producing two tracks for the NYC duo’s fourth album, Murda Muzik. • Throughout the ’00s and ’10s, The Alchemist crafted beats for a who's who of hip-hop luminaries, including Ghostface Killah, Nas, Jadakiss, Kendrick Lamar, and Lil Wayne. • The Alchemist released his debut solo album, The Infantry, in 2004. He followed that with Chemical Warfare in 2009 and Russian Roulette in 2012. • In addition to solo outings, the producer has released numerous collaborative projects with artists like Oh No, Evidence, Action Bronson, Conway the Machine, and Freddie Gibbs. • In 2020, after years of serving as Eminem’s tour DJ, The Alchemist finally landed a placement on an Em album, cowriting and coproducing “Stepdad” for Music to be Murdered By.
