What would you give up to have a second-chance at a once-in-a-lifetime love?

Wild Card is a STANDALONE SECOND-CHANCE ROMANCE from the NYT bestselling author of The Pact and Before I Ever Met You.

Rough, raw & rugged.

As the man in charge at Ravenswood Ranch, Shane Nelson has never been afraid to get his hands dirty. His sculpted physique isn't the product of a gym, but of years of hard labor under a relentless sun. His straightforward, alpha tendencies come from a man who knows what he wants and goes after it.

And what he wants is Rachel Waters.

He's never stopped wanting her.

They were childhood best friends, then teenage lovers who evolved into soulmates. But on one fateful night, Shane made a grave mistake, breaking both their hearts in the process.

Now, after six years, Rachel is back in the small, wild mountain town of North Ridge, BC.

Ready to face her past.

Ready to face Shane.

Ready to face his dark secret.

But is a second-chance at a one true love in the cards? Or will their wild hearts be broken once again?

Beautiful story between two souls

Wild Card is a wild romance between Rachel and Shane.

The story between them is really this grand romance. So many things happen between them, that it’s hard to ignore what they have for each other. I honestly, wanted to love this story. But I didn’t feel I was involved as much as I should have been. The writing was well done but it felt like it was a bit choppy and there were a lot of scenes that I believe were added just for the drama.

What happened to Rachel, is really awful. Her dad really is this evil man, that thought he could pretty much get away with anything. Thankfully, she had Shane during that time. There are some pretty intense, hot and steamy scenes. But I felt that I needed more from them. Sometimes when a story is a constant back and forth from the present to the past, it kind of loses me. I’d rather start from the beginning.

Overall, Wild Card is a beautiful story between two souls, who were meant to be. I give This Four Boundless Stars, I did enjoy it.

In Wild Card, Shane and Rachel get a second chance at love. Shane was given an opportunity to once again love Rachel forever after failing the first time. Despite the six years distance with no communication they still shared a connection.
This was a contemporary new adult western story about the Nelson brothers. Wild Card is book one of the North Ridge Ranch series. Wild Card was Shane’s story. Maverick is John’s story, and Hot Shot is Fox’s story. Three brothers born on the ranch owned by their grandfather in British Columbia, Canada.

Periodically the chapters alternated between the past and present, as well as alternating points of views. The prologue laid the foundation for the rest of the story beginning with the main characters as friends to lovers until Rachel moved away with Shane pushing her away.

The story was character driven to help establish the brothers for their own standalone stories. The minor characters played an intricate part in developing the main characters.
The story was about choices and how those choices carved new paths. Shane and Rachel fell in love at the age of nine. For eleven years they shared a passionate love and while all the details about this blossoming love were not explained in detail it wasn’t necessary information to believe the love they shared.
Deeply rooted in the past were untold secrets. A beautiful and tragic story is woven into this second chance western, yet I find the story tiresome to read at times. My heart was not always connected to the words. Some words more than others crafted a heartfelt story, but other times I was skimming words.

I like that Karina didn’t wait until the end of the story to reveal the secrets and lies. This way the characters could rebuild the relationship they had and the reader got a chance to read about them being together instead of apart.
I absolutely loved the cover. The guy represented on the front was smokin’ hot. He was the perfect eye candy I needed for Shane’s character.

Good slow burn romance

I enjoyed this, the first I've read from this author. I'll definitely be looking to read her other titles.
