Publisher Description
Enter a world of immortal danger and desire—and discover an incredible fate borne of blood—from the author of Changing His Game
“Engrossing . . . pleasantly intense.”—Publishers Weekly
Tendra: One minute, I’m a bartender in gritty Mission City; the next, I’m whisked away by a vampire named Athan who tells me that I’m the lifeblood of his clan. It sounds unbelievable, but he’s got evidence I can’t deny. Turns out, Athan belongs to an underground society of vampires who feed only on humans with their consent. Their enemies have no such qualms, and they want me dead. The only thing standing in their way is strong, sexy Athan. And the closer we get, the more tempted I am to let Athan feed. . . .
Athan: How could I have known when I snatched this snarky, beautiful human off the streets that she would change my destiny? As a loyal soldier, I must deliver Tendra to our future king—my brother. Empowered with the blood of ten generations of the Gregorie breed, she is fated to rule as our queen. But there’s something between us that’s so intoxicating, so carnal, I can’t help wanting Tendra for myself . . . even if it’s treason.
BONUS: This ebook edition includes the prequel short story, “Bite the Hand That Bleeds.”

BLOOD GUARD • BLOOD VEIL
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
An ordinary woman learns her blood might be the key to saving the world in this engrossing erotic paranormal romance. Tendra Parrish is mourning her mother's recent death when a huge and gorgeous man, Athan, abducts her. To Tendra's shock, he tells her he's a vampire and he's to deliver her to his older brother, Idris, who will someday become king of their clan. Her blood is supposed to give Idris the power to defeat their rival clan and save humankind. On their way, though, Athan and Tendra develop attraction to and affection for each other feelings that make Athan's duty to deliver Tendra to his brother far more complicated. The plot gets bogged down in backstory early on, but once the rules of the world are established, things move along engagingly. Tendra and Athan's characterization sometimes falls back on common tropes, but Erickson adds interesting new aspects to those tropes, and their chemistry is pleasantly intense. Athan and Tendra's journey marks a promising beginning to Erickson's newest series.

Loved It!
I REALLY liked this book! I was on the edge of my seat through the entire thing and really didn't want it to end because I was so wrapped up in the characters. The writing is so good that you feel like you are there and experiencing everything right along with them. I loved the honor and core values of both of the characters, they were so deep and strong. These are the kind of characters that stick with you after you've finished a book, that you want to keep following and getting to know even more. I can't wait to see where the series goes but I can't imagine liking any two characters more than I do these.
Witty and engaging
This is my first read by Megan Erickson, but it won't be my last. Blood Guard is well-written and engaging. It's not a loaded with action, paranormal romance, but Athan and Tendra's journey is certainly interesting, especially with Tendra's snark and face it head on attitude. The world of the Gregorie vampires and their enemies takes shape as Athan explains Tendra's destiny to her. The chemistry and sexual tension builds and things don't go quite as the noble Athan had planned on their trip to deliver Tendra safely to his brother. Overall, the story is an entertaining romance with the added bonus of suspense, intrigue, political corruption, family loyalty and betrayal, and fan yourself steamy times. I'll be eagerly anticipating the next Mission novel.
Fresh take on Vampires
Vampire stories are a highly popular subject matter so I'm always impressed when an author can spin a fresh take. I like the differences that Megan Erickson created and want to learn more.
This was an enjoyable story with great main characters. It had enough tension with Tendra being meant for Athan's brother. Watching him battle with his sense of duty over his feelings that grew for her, the longer he guarded her.
The epilogue created enough interest to see where Book 2 will continue with the storyline. ARC provided by NetGalley.
