Underreported Must Hear
No spoilers!
This story takes place in one of the saddest week’s in Orlando history within days of the Pulse nightclub shooting and the death of Lane Graves, the two-year-old who lost his life at Disney World to what is believed to be an alligator attack. Even though I was out of the country the entire time I can clearly remember her winning 3rd place on The Voice, hearing about both the Pulse Nightclub tragedy and following the search of young Graves however the murder of Grimmie was overshadowed and unreported. Solo host and staff writer, Jeff Weiner of the Orlando Sentinel does an exceptional job covering it and the events leading up to it, making sure to give the victim’s story the attention it deserves. The five-part series finished up in July of 2018 launching in Christina’s memory on the second anniversary of her death. Each episode is on average about 20 minutes long with every one of them adding necessary details to the story of the case. Script, voice, and interviews are all clear and volume is level. Music is light and complementary. Hearing from the stalker expert, family members and friends was extremely insightful. The details were given about the killer’s life and perspective were hard to hear and not my favorite but I think necessary to understand what happened. Big trigger warning for those sensitive to mass shootings as the Pulse Nightclub shooting and 911 calls from those around Grimmie is addressed. Hearing parts of Christina’s last songs and the fan accounts was truly heartbreaking. Please take care while listening.

The tragedy of Christina Grimmie is a story nearly lost in the hail of bullets inside the Pulse nightclub 2 years ago - and the death of Lane Graves, the boy killed by an alligator at Disney. But the Orlando Sentinel’s special presentation of this special story is a must-listen. A compelling story told with vivid voice. I’d give it six stars if I could. It’s that good.
