About Robert Ellis Orrall

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I grew up on the North Shore of Boston and began my career in legendary Boston rock venues like The Rat, The Paradise, and The Orpheum Theater. Part of a new wave of artists that included The Cars and 'Til Tuesday, I signed with RCA Records in 1981. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Elvis Costello, My Aim Is True Nick Lowe, Jesus of Cool (Deluxe Edition) 2008 Remaster Todd Rundgren, Runt. The Ballad of Todd Rundgren All three of these albums taught me something new about songwriting. Todd Rundgren, Nick Lowe and Elvis Costello were my biggest influences. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Wish About Her” "Wish About Her" is my favorite song on my new album "467 Surf And Gun Club". As a songwriter, I have lived the life of bartender, therapist, and observer of the beautiful and mysterious. This song pulls from all those occupations. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Opening for U2 at the Orpheum Theater in my hometown was an 80's highlight. The 90's brought my first three #1 songs. And writing and producing on Taylor Swift's debut album in 2006 was very satisfying, especially looking back on her amazing career. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I look forward to more music, more collaborations, and more live performances. My life in music has far exceeded any hopes and dreams I had. I feel very lucky.
