About The Standells
Though the Standells are perhaps best known for their classic 1965 garage rock cut "Dirty Water," and its subsequent connection to the Boston Red Sox, in their prime the band made plenty of excellent raw and infectious blue-eyed R&B. Formed in Los Angeles, the Standells were something of a prefabricated showbiz band, even boasting a former Mouseketeer in their ranks, yet they maintained a certain authenticity thanks to a pinch of punk attitude and some excellent songs written by manager/producer Ed Cobb. The band reunited in the late '90s, and also performed at the 2004 World Series in Boston.
