About Eddy Grant

Originally from the West Indies, Eddy Grant (born Edmond Montague Grant) made a name for himself on the late-1960s U.K. ska/reggae scene as a member of the Equals. Later as a solo artist, he scored a minor hit with ’79’s “Living on the Frontline,” but really made an international splash with the inescapable synth-heavy ’83 single “Electric Avenue.” Although Grant’s profile lowered considerably after the ‘80s, he remained active, even delving into soca music on ‘93’s SOCA BAPTISM.
