Tripadvisor: Plan & Book Trips 4+

This is one scene that’ll remain etched in your mind as long as you live. Colourful homes clinging onto rocky outcrops along the western shore, standing tall and in narrow formation, along the full length of 7km. The fact that these villages are not accessible by road (only train & boat) add to the mystical charm of Cinque Terre.
To get the best effect of the experience we went by train and returned by ferry, which gave us a whole new perspective of these homes from the sea.
Many narrow and steep steps, which connect the buildings, require effort to climb and for the enthusiasts there are walking trails connecting the villages which you can go on to get the full effect of the nature parks in this fascinating area.
It’ll take you a full day to soak it all in, but it’ll be worth your while to experience it.
This is one of the gems of Italy which you should not miss!

Throughout my travels to Europe, North America, South America, South Africa and the Far East, I have used, to great satisfaction, local tour companies that uncovered new worlds new adventures and experiences of a lifetime. I have luxuriated in grand accommodations and home away from home hideaways in glorious locations.

I have benefited from other fellow travellers’ experiences and avoided their pitfalls and disappointments in exploring cuisines and eating establishments by consulting TripAdvisor restaurant guides.

The maps and directions especially those in local languages are invaluable in hassle free and seamless commuting.

Booked an ocean view room to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Was informed that there will be a complementary petite cake (which is really nice of them). The team went above and beyond and decorated our room with balloons (and a handwritten one with our names on it) + a pair of folded swans with rose petals (of course). We felt very welcomed throughout our entire stay. The evening turndown service was a pleasant surprise given the current situation but man, does it feels really good when we returned to a neatly tidied room after dinner. Kudos to Rio (the receptionist) and the housekeeping team for up-keeping the 5 stars hospitality of Mandarin Oriental.

Dining experiences at Dolce Vita and Meltz Cafe were also impeccable. Especially at the latter for its semi-buffet. Our servers, Grace and CK were always on standby and their attentiveness allowed us to indulge without even leaving our seats. Thank you! Nothing to complain about the food either. It met our expectations.

Strongly recommend to go for the staycation package that offers guaranteed late checkout at 6pm. The extra hours made a huge difference! I’ll definitely return again.
