Hot Snakes Essentials

Hot Snakes Essentials

Formed by longtime collaborators John Reis and Rick Froberg in 1999, Hot Snakes' post-hardcore pedigree is matched by few. Rather than continuing the math rock and emo sound established by Pitchfork and Drive Like Jehu, however, Hot Snakes went straight to the basics. Channeling the ferocity of punk through a decidedly garage rock sound, the band found a niche within the early-aughts garage revival scene with a trio of acclaimed studio LPs, even though they played faster and louder than most of their peers. They broke up in 2005, but reunited in 2011 for a victory lap tour.
