Bonus: The Senators at the center of the 50-50 split
“If we miss this opportunity, God help us.” Joe Manchin and Lisa Murkowski. Two moderate senators smack in the middle — and on either side — of a split 50-50 Senate. On our first episode of Playbook Deep Dive, the two friends open up in a rare interview with POLITICO’s Burgess Everett. They get personal: about reconciliation, frustration over the Senate’s hurdles — even why Murkowski hogs the best fishing holes. And Manchin reveals a major endorsement, heard first on this show.

Jaw dropping!
Just listened to the Tony Perkins episode. I found it jaw dropping and my mouth was wide open for most of the episode. He seemed to be saying that as long as Trump goes along with their evangelical demands they will excuse anything. The man seems to be a crook and a womaniser, and shows no sign of any form of Christianity. I am a UK listener and find the evangelical influence in American politics really strange.
It was fascinating too, to hear him try to justify his obvious hypocrisy. I think he knows it too.

Beautifully Paced
Glenn Thrush has a lovely, almost lilting voice. He is a great interviewier, and the guests so far have been a great fit for his unhurried and thoughful style.
