Beethoven: Triple Concerto & Piano Concerto No. 3

Beethoven: Triple Concerto & Piano Concerto No. 3

The second instalment of Lars Vogt’s Beethoven piano concerto series with his Royal Northern Sinfonia pairs the Third Piano Concerto (1800) with the slightly later Triple Concerto (1803), a work of radiant good spirits and optimism. Vogt, directing from the keyboard, is joined by two regular partners, the brother-sister duo of Christian (violin) and Tanja Tetzlaff (cello). The three play as one; it's deeply rewarding music-making of a superior order. In the Third Concerto, a work of such wonderful invention, Vogt brings the same high-calibre musicianship and style, and his rapport with his orchestra is one of the recording’s joys.
