About The Next Step

The Canada-based dance mockumentary The Next Step has been an international television sensation since it premiered in 2013; the songs that accompany the teen drama cast’s routines, romances, and rough patches have delighted audiences at home as well as in attendance at the show’s wildly successful dance tours. While most of its episodes are named after classic pop songs, many of The Next Step’s best-known moments are soundtracked by original cuts like the Jena Gogo-belted breakup song “Fire,” which appeared on the show’s third season, and the rueful season-one cut “Inside Out.” The Next Step had its last dance in the fall of 2020. Over seven seasons and more than 200 episodes, dozens of dancers cycled through its titular dance studio—and the music that played during each episode helped the groundbreaking show strike an emotional chord with viewers around the world.
