    Couldn't Go The Distance

    We are Back!!!

It is only right that we bless you with an episode just a few days after The Carters blessed us with their Everything Is Love album! We get into our favorite songs and discuss the Apeshit video. The Carters aren't the only artists who put on new music though. We get into Christina Aguilera's long awaited new project Liberation and discuss where she ranks as a vocalist for our generation. Then, we get into Nas' album Nasir, which also dropped last week, and whether or not it was a misstep for him to not address Kelis' domestic abuse allegations against him. We end the episode with a reflection on XXXTentacion's recent murder and the need to have tough conversations about violence against women in the Hip Hop industry.

It feels so good to be back. Enjoy the latest episode!

Awesome

Very informed podcast. Doesn’t only recount the latest news in music, but delivers deep insights including label dynamics/royalty rights, historical information about artists and their discographies, and the social context in which music is evolving. Subscribed.

Black Scholarly Goodness

Marcus and Kyera are a winning combination of wit, humor, and black scholarly goodness. Each time I listen I feel like I'm sitting right accross from them at my favorite happy hour. The BackBeat is worth jamming to again, and again, and again.
