Adam Kay knew exactly who he wanted to play him in the TV version of his life. After spending years working in hospitals across the UK, mostly in obstetrics and gynaecology, Adam—completely burnt out—took a break. What was meant to be a short pause turned into 14 years and counting. During his training in the labour wards, Adam kept a diary. Those diary entries would later become a best-selling book (This Is Going To Hurt, which sold over 5 million copies), and eventually a hit TV series starring Ben Whishaw as Adam. This episode was very insightful. I only knew of the case via the grabs on the news. Such a sad story for Meredith Kercher, her family and those falsely accused along with their family and friends. It is impressive to hear Amanda speak so thoughtfully and rationally about the entirely horrendous event. A great interview, Kate.

Prefer kate hosting these days but mostly a really great podcast nonetheless! Some of the most interesting stories are ones I knew nothing about before or didn’t expect to like. I think the choice of stories used to be better - I’m not sure why they have so many overseas guests now

I used to LOVE LOVE LOVE No Filter with Mia Freedman. Since Kate has taken over I really can’t listen to it. I feel bad to give such negative feedback because she’s a great human and great at what she does but I just can’t listen. I’m not sure if it’s because she sounds condescending but some of the interviews are just so cringey I feel so uncomfortable. Sorry Kate – you’re a great interviewer, just not for me. Bring back Mia!

I’m not a regular listener. Just listened to Kate interviewing Peter Dutton. I was disappointed that it was so soft. He wasn’t challenged on so many issues important to women, like his positions on gender equality, gender targets in the liberal party, shrinking the public sector, ending working from home, nuclear energy, cuddling up to Trump, his own white wealth and privilege, his criticism of “woke”, etc. I like Kate but thought this needed to be far harder hitting.
