St John First Responder 12+

Fantastic public resource

In a digital world this app is literally a lifesaver. The easy access guides have come in handy multiple times, and the GPS location on the 000 feature is particularly useful to regional citizens. I encourage all my colleagues and friends to download this app as you never know when it could be you that it’s saving.

Misleading information

The “Defibrillator nearby” feature is really unsafe. The map shows numerous defibrillator locations but the vast majority of them are not available for public use for most or all of the time. I have personally visited and enquired at all of the claimed defibrillator locations close to me and know that only one out of seven of them is actually available for public use. This misleading information may lead to wastage of precious time and loss of life. It’s not acceptable for St Johns to say that they will advise people which defibrillator is available when they phone the service. Any defibrillator that is never available for public use simply shouldn’t be on that map. It’s totally unacceptable.

Hi, All AEDs listed in Western Australia are checked and maintained by the dedicated Community First Responder team here at St John WA. Yes some are only available during business hours, or when a building is open. However the instruction shown in the app is that if you cannot locate the AED, please call 000 and you will be given instructions how to access the AED. In all cases, the owners of these AEDs have given St John express permission to show the location of their AED in our app. If you believe there are errors in some of the locations, then please call the Community First Responder team on 08 9334 1428 and they will be happy to take on board your feedback.

Rarely Works

After a recent family emergency situation, I downloaded the app. I keep testing the functions of the app however the Toolbox opens only about 20% of the time. Also, there are five Defibrillator locations within 500m of my home. I went for a walk to make sure I was aware of the exact locations...but found that only one was accessible as the other four are locked within buildings. This needs to be updated in the app immediately as it is very ‘misleading’ AND could cost lives in an emergency.
I love the idea behind the app...however it requires lots of tweaking...

Thankyou for your review and feedback on our app. Please update to version 1.13.15, released on 2 September 2021. This release fixes the issues on the toolbox.
