Shut Out

We don’t make it easy to vote in America. A citizen can be disenfranchised for a typo, a scrawled signature, or for a felony. Then there are the politicians who tout “voter fraud” when it’s a proven myth. Reporters Catherine Saint Louis and Sam Levine examine why we should be worried about the weakening of our democracy with 2020 on the horizon. Shut Out is a three-part podcast series produced by HuffPost. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

I really enjoyed learning about the history of voter suppression from the 1960s to the present. It’s dark, complicated topic that can be hard to understand and upsetting, but Catherine and her team made it digestible and empowering. I finished it in one afternoon and now I want more!

Very timely podcast in light of the 2018 midterms and the many states that have implemented Voter ID laws amongst other types of disenfranchisement and suppression.
