Description
Recommended app pairing: For a comprehensive motor-skill inventory, we recommend pairing this app with Dexteria VMI, which focuses on visual-motor skills and assessment.
Dexteria turns your iOS device into a therapeutic tool that improves fine motor skills and handwriting readiness in children and adults.
Dexteria’s unique hand and finger activities take full advantage of the iOS multi-touch screen to help build strength, control, and dexterity. The app's efficacy is supported by independent research studies, including a 2016 study by Huntington University published in the Journal of Hand Therapy.
• Increases coordination and motor control in the hands and fingers
• Works for kids and adults
• Automatically creates performance and usage reports that can be emailed
• Speeds recovery from injuries and stroke
• Designed in consultation with Occupational Therapists
• Turns the iPad into a therapeutic tool
For best therapeutic results the exercises should be done on a regular basis in short sessions. The exercises are designed to be repeatable and engaging.
The automatic tracking and reporting feature makes it easy for parents, teachers and occupational therapists to identify time on task and progress. You can email the progress reports right from the app itself.
Multi-user tracking is available as an in-app purchase. (Note to Volume Purchase Program customers: Consider buying Dexteria VPP instead. It includes multi-user tracking and you will pay a lower net cost than if you buy Dexteria and upgrade each copy via the in-app purchase. Just search "Dexteria VPP" in the app store.)

Ratings and Reviews
Kids enjoying it
Bought this for my 6 year old who has a poor pencil grip and gets easily frustrated with writing. The plan is to build up the strength in his fingers. He enjoys all the games, especially since they are timed and we can check his progress as his times are saved in a report. My 3 year old daughter loves the games as well.
Waste of money
I am an occupational therapist who downloaded a number of fine motor apps to see which are worth recommending to parents I work with. This app was the most expensive and by far the least value for money of the lot.
The alphabet writing activity is boring and offers no unique features. The pinch it activity is probably the most interesting of the three but it works if you use any three fingers so without supervision would be easy to cheat with defeating its purpose. It is also again not very interesting when compared to the multitude of other electronic games children have access to. The tap it activity is probably the most useless of the lot and offers nothing that just tapping your fingers one at a time on a table wouldn't. Learning to play the piano would be a much more fun and functional activity!!
Whilst the intention of this app is promising the content is disappointing and fails to deliver.
Brilliant fine motor skills app
Wow what a great app and recommend looking at the other apps offered by this app developer. As an experienced children'sOT it is an essential part of my toolkit now to engage technology savy children to working on their finger dexterity, visual perceptual skills and concentration. Love the ability to record and monitor progress too. :-)
