Contractors spend thousands of dollars on tools that are typically expensed as purchased. They get stolen, lost, procured for personal use and who knows what else! Often tools are hoarded and never returned, so contractors keep buying the same tool again and again despite tools sitting in trucks unused.
Most tool tracking systems do a fantastic job checking them in/out, but are lousy once they've left the warehouse. ShareMyToolbox is simple and different. First and foremost, we designed the system as a mobile platform. Second, we stay laser-focused on doing two things well:

We've hammered out some exciting updates and squashed bugs for an even smoother experience.
With the flip of a toggle in the Portal, you can now allow Employee Roles to add Items directly in the app, automatically assigning as Borrowed. It's like giving them the keys to the tool kingdom without the fear of losing them in the couch cushions.
Plus, we're happy to report that our digital insecticide has been highly effective. Your ShareMyToolbox experience should be as smooth as a freshly sanded 2x4.

We signed up with these guys many years ago as they seemed to be the best bang for the buck. We explored the big companies programs and settled on the “little guy.” There have been no regrets. They listen to your requests, they work hard to keep great features in front of you, and the system overall works really well. We are a mechanical contractor with about 100 employees and we have over 2,000 tools in the system. Like any program, the more we put into it, the more we get out of it and this is one that we have invested the time to familiarize ourselves with. While it’s very user-friendly, there are tons of features that can fall by the wayside and I know that we are not using everything that we could. In spite of our own ineptitude, this program is critical to our operation. We have a pretty good understanding of where everything is, we track repair history and scheduled maintenance needs, and we also track purchase history and cost for various uses. I have been very pleased with SMTB and have a great appreciation with how easy it is to receive help from these guys.

Great App , time and money saver
We have been using this app for almost 1 year and the amount of time we have saved no having to look for tool/equipment is priceless alone. We have been able to save thousands by not having to purchase the same tools/equipment over and over because we know where they are. The fact that you can set up warehouse locations such as trucks or physical locations makes it easy to see who has what or where it went . The new update looks great and really streamlined the whole process. The feature that allows for the use of barcodes makes it easy to check out a tool. This is great for tools and any equipment. We use it for everything from tools to portable job site heaters etc.
Not for me
I find this app slow, limited and problematic, and Milwaukee's ONE-KEY app much more responsive and intuitive. This app doesn't seem to even recognize the existence of Apple's password management system, let alone integrate it (meaning that if you want to use a secure password, you have to do a search, find the passwords app, open it and create and/or copy your password, then explicitly go back to the app and paste your password in, all instead of simply tapping a banner above your keyboard to auto fill your password); every action you take is followed by a pause while a wheel spins around as the app thinks about what you've told it to do for a second before it does it, it took me about five minutes to figure out how to lend out a tool (it's complicated), and when I'd seen enough and wanted to delete my account, the app threw an error.
