About Riders In the Sky

Nashville-based trio, Riders In The Sky, formed their act as an homage to the early country of cowboy vocal groups such as the Sons of the Pioneers and Riders of the Purple Sage. The group's fine harmonies and yodels were boosted by their sense of showmanship, incoporating sketches, humour and even rope-spinning into their stage act. By 1982, they had became regulars at the Grand Ole Opry and the following year commenced a three-year run of their Tumbleweed Theater series, each episode of which featured a comedy skit, a few songs, and a classic B-movie western. After several years on MCA and Columbia, they returned to Rounder Records for their acclaimed 1995 album, ALWAYS DRINK UPSTREAM FROM THE HERD.
