Publisher Description
Life doesn’t always start with once upon a time.
Love doesn’t always end with happily ever after.
After spending five years with the love of my life, I did nothing to stop her from walking away. She had her reasons to leave. I had my reasons to stay. But a year later, the realization of loss hits me, and I’ll stop at nothing to fix it. I leave everything behind to drive across the country to win her back, and I refuse to accept anything other than fulfilling old promises.
But the only certainty in life is: nothing is as expected.
The most valuable lessons don’t often revolve around a fairytale ending—frequently, they come from hurt and healing. They come from the kind of personal growth love offers. The mending of your heart, your soul, and your life. And every once in a while, you find the greatest gifts in the packages you never expected to open.

You need this book!
Creed Wallace has his life mapped out. His goals are to finish college, get into law school at Duke and become an attorney. He had no intentions of being side-tracked by a girl much less one that wind up meaning so much to him.
Layne Cooper never expected to find a man as honest and caring as Creed. She's been handed more than her fair share of hurdles and now her focus is to live life to the fullest.
I loved this book but it wrecked me. Once I started it, I had a difficult time putting it down. The writing is good and primarily told from Creed's POV. It flashes between the present and the past. The writing of this book drew me in instantly and it kept me hooked. I loved Layne's spirit and Creed's determination and with all of his faults I felt he loved her. The feeling was present throughout the entire book.
This is the first book I've read by this author and look forward to reading more.
