The Truth and the Lie

The Americana trio’s third album begins with “Jet Trails”, which sighs, “Your song’s too strange for Nashville.” Don’t take that as read though: it’s hard to imagine country music’s capital city not being seduced by the lifting pop melodies and enthralling harmonies in play throughout an album of impressive polish and poise. True enough though, the less straightforward the songs get the better they are, and slow-burning lament “In Black” and softly picked lullaby “Strathconon” are outstanding.
