Mamamia Out Loud

I generally love the topics and banter and as a long time listener they have stayed on course for who they are and why I listen. They cannot be all things to all people so i hope they don’t listen to the demands to do so - keep being you! Adding Amelia in is a stroke of genius and I enjoy her views very much. I continue to love the banter of Holly, Jessie and Mia too. Keep going, ladies! Re push for diversity etc: the truth is, this podcast was built on the back of a community of committed listeners who are at risk of being left behind if the push to evolve outside of who these women are, is required of them. Yes they are popular but I don’t expect them to therefore ‘be more’ to the new masses that listen. Enjoy this podcast for what it is or add other podcasts to your streaming lists for whichever diversity you seek.

I’ve followed Mia for over 20 years now and have been a long time listener of Outloud ( among other Mamamia podcasts ), but now it’s time to cancel my paid subscription and unfollow. The show has gone down hill rapidly over the past couple of years. The content discussed is out of touch and often poorly researched. I’m also sick to death of hearing about Mia and Jessie’s family dynamics. It just seems like a vanity project now to discuss Luna and Luca. Jessie has lost touch due to marrying into wealth and is now under Mia’s thumb. Don’t pretend to be relatable anymore it’s insincere and insulting. Over the years I admittedly put my head in the sand regarding Mia and her missteps but acting like the wacky woman who can’t get it together is annoying and fake. The reports of mistreating and underpaying staff, the departure of Rosie Waterland, the monumental stuff up with Roxanne Gay, refusing to talk about Gaza and now the salary leak of her son and promotion of her daughter to content producer in two weeks from intern is enough. Mia and Jessie have conveniently gone MIA since the salary story was reported and then yesterday having Clare Stephen’s come on the pod was a thinly veiled attempt to dispel rumours of why Clare left Mamamia at the end of last year. I’m part of their targeted audience but cannot support this level of nepotism and poor quality ‘journalism’ anymore. This pod is not about ‘what women are talking about out’, unless you are white, extremely privileged and unconcerned about what is really happening to women across the world. I’ll miss Holly though; I still love Holly but have no idea how she can stand watching Mia promote her family through the ranks of the organisation with little to none qualifications or experience.

Now it’s just entertainment news. It doesn’t help make the world a better world for women, it’s just superficial junk. Such a shame.
