Palestine and Israel: A Plan for Two States, One Homeland; plus the UAW and VW | Start Making Sense
Transforming the two-state solution for Palestine and Israel to meet today’s realities: a federation, something like the European Union. That’s the project of the visionary group A Land for All. May Pundak, co-executive director, explains.
Also: History was made last Friday in Chattanooga, when workers at Volkswagen’s factory there voted to join the United Auto Workers -- by an overwhelming margin, 73 to 27 percent. This was the first major union victory in the South in many decades, and it may mark the rebirth of a powerful union movement. Harold Meyerson comments; he’s editor-at-large of The American Prospect.

On this episode of American Prestige, Danny and Derek welcome back Daniel Steinmetz-Jenkins, assistant professor in the College of Social Studies at Wesleyan University, to talk about his edited volume Did It Happen Here? Perspectives on Fascism and America. The group explores the utility of the so-called “fascism debate”, its popular resonance since the 2016 election, how Daniel curated the book, analysis of fascism in the Black radical tradition, perceptions of fascism in academia vs. those in organized labor, how social media fuels an otherwise arcane, academic discussion, and more.

Where Did Biden’s Foreign Policy Go Wrong? | The Time of Monsters
Writing in the Nation, David Klion recently reviewed a Alexander Ward’s new book on Biden’s foreign policy, which offers a redemption arc whereby an administration wounded by the botched exit from Afghanistan made good by its handling of the Ukraine invasion.
But as Klion notes, the two year frame of the book is too narrow. In conversation, David and I contextualize Biden’s foreign policy, which is deeply unpopular and flawed, in the larger history of hawkish liberalism. We look at the attempt to revive a style of military Keynesianism and Biden’s deep investment in Zionism, as well as the contradictions on issues of human rights that are hampering Biden’s presidency.
During the discussion, I alluded to this excellent Mother Jones article by Noah Lanard on Biden and Israel.

Naomi Klein
There is problem with your view of Taibi. He is a journalist and a muckraker. He tries not to have a political view. He does not support Tucker or Rachel. He is a searcher for the truth with no censorship or bias. You do his very serious work a disservice to paint him with such a broad brush

walker current head of a misnamed group/young americans for freedom fits right into his MO. we in WI had to suffer through too many years of the walker regime in example right to work. that actually means cutting the strength of unions. that lie title has stuck, my co-worker at a union shop never even knew what that meant! this is what those slime ball walker/gop evil wannabe rulers do, they always come up with a title of what they are, do or are going to do that sounds benign but is actually malignant. HATE Walker and his ilk.
Content is a 5 but it rates a 2 due to…
The HOST and his sound engineering. There so many pauses and unnecessary stops and starts along with the fact that it sounds like he is either leaning into the mic, or away from the mic all within the same sentence! The inconsistencies make it very difficult to listen to! He also sometimes speaks so fast that he miss pronounces words and proper names such as “Alexandria Ocasio Cortez”! Surely there is someone at the nation who is more suited to the podcast medium!
