Slow burn
This is the first of Victoria Zak's books I've read, I quite enjoyed it. If you like dragons and Scottish men then you should enjoy it too. I was a little disappointed in the end there were a few unanswered questions but not enough where you can't figure it out. I will say that the speaking language includes a lot of verra thick highlander authenticity so if you don't like the ochs or dinnae then probably not for you. It starts a little slow hence the 4 stars and slow burn title but, I'd still recommend it.
Wonderfully exciting story
I really enjoyed it and didn’t want it to end.
It was good, but...
Overall, the story was good & an enjoyable read. The only problem I had was the way the Scottish accent & some of the colloquialisms were written. They were not entirely accurate. I can’t speak for the spelling due to the fact that, when writing in an accent, I don’t believe there may be a proper spelling for some words. Case in point, it should be, “Doona fache yerself” when telling someone not to worry. Not “fash”. I’m not an expert & I hope I don’t come off sounding high & mighty . It is, after all, just an opinion. I just feel strongly that if you’re going to write a novel based in another country or with a historical aspect, you should try and be as accurate as you can or be able to write in such a way that people are able to suspend disbelief. But I’m not a published author, so what do I know? Just my 2 cents. I did enjoy the characters, plot & idea.
