Cherri Bomb

Led by singer/guitarist Julia Pierce, Los Angeles all-female rock quartet Cherri Bomb features drummer Nia Lovelis, bassist Rena Lovelis, and guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Miranda Miller. Pierce found Nia and Miller through holding tryouts for like-minded young women who wanted to rock out like her influences Garbage, Foo Fighters, and My Chemical Romance. The trio ended its search for a bassist when Nia's sister Rena learned how to play, and the band soon began playing live gigs, including one for Chelsea Girls, the project of drummer Samantha Maloney (Hole, Peaches, Mötley Crüe). Maloney was so impressed by Cherri Bomb's multi-part harmonies and hard riffs that she became their manager. The band's debut album, This Is the End of Control, arrived in 2011. ~ Heather Phares
